Back To School
 
Another summer has flown by. The school bus is back picking up the kids!! How do the summers go so fast? Seeing the start of another school year made me think of the days when we would get our class books. Remember the math and science books?? Algebra? Geometry? Physics? Some of us may have clicked with these subjects, while many of us may have struggled. And we’ve all had our classes that we would have preferred not to take at all!!
 
I often recall a “back to school” example that still sticks with me to this day. Opening my Algebra book to somewhere near the middle of the book was mind boggling. What is this stuff?? Lots of letters, numbers, symbols, little numbers on top of numbers in parentheses??!! How in the world will I ever learn this? Then, class by class, day by day and with a lot of studying and guidance from a good teacher, we arrived at that page around mid-year. Lo and behold, It made sense then! I always considered this a good lesson – Things may not make sense on day one, but with a good teacher, a good book and some focused studying, things begin to com
together.
 
How often do we look at situations in our lives and feel like we’re in over our heads and start considering all the possible negative outcomes?? It happens often, and sometimes we don’t realize that we ALL have a Good Teacher and a good Book, and when we add the ingredient of putting in our study time, we can adopt a completely new perspective on the challenges we face in our daily lives.
Jesus in our Good Teacher and the Holy Bible is our course book. When we open our Book randomly, we can easily get lost and confused. But when we stop and pray to our Lord and read with the intent of truly understanding what God is telling us, we continue to learn and strengthen our relationship with our Lord. And page by page, day by day and prayer by prayer, our Lord gives us direction for our lives and fills us with the peace and understanding of His Holy Spirit.
 
Dear Lord we pray – Our time here on earth is a lifelong journey to get to know You better and understand how You want us to live. We pray that we can always look to You to Teach us Your Ways, and help us to understand your sacred Words. We want to live our lives day by day in the love of your presence. The Bible is our Good Book and you are our Good Teacher.
